54—Commencement of proceedings for summary offences
(1) Proceedings for an
offence against this Act may only be commenced by—
(a) the
Minister; or
(b) an
authorised officer.
(2) Proceedings for an
offence against this Act may be commenced at any time within 3 years
after the date of the alleged commission of the offence or, with the
authorisation of the Attorney-General, at any later time after the date of the
alleged commission of the offence.
(3) An apparently
genuine document purporting to be signed by the Attorney-General authorising
the commencement of proceedings under this Act must be accepted in legal
proceedings, in the absence of proof to the contrary, as proof of the
authorisation.
