(1) The Legal Services
Fund is established.
(2) The fund consists
of—
(a) all
money payable to the fund by the Law Society from the statutory
interest account; and
(b) all
money paid to the Commission for the provision of legal assistance by the
Government of the State or the Commonwealth; and
(c) all
money paid to, or recovered by, the Commission as legal assistance costs, or
as payments towards legal assistance costs; and
(d) the
income and accretions arising from the investment of any of the money from
the fund; and
(e) any
other money paid to the Commission for the purpose of enabling it to provide
legal assistance.
(3) The fund will be
administered by the Commission and applied for the purpose of providing
legal assistance in accordance with this Act and otherwise in the
administration of this Act.
(4) The Commission
may, with the approval of the Attorney-General, invest money from the fund,
not immediately required for the purposes of this Act, in such manner as it
thinks fit.
