33—Procedure for advisory committees
(1) The person
appointed to chair an advisory committee will preside at any meeting of the
committee at which he or she is present and, in his or her absence from a
meeting, the members present must select one of their number to preside at
that meeting.
(2) A quorum of an
advisory committee is constituted by a number of members equal to the number
gained by dividing the number of members appointed to the committee by two,
ignoring any resulting fraction and adding one.
(3) No business may be
transacted at a meeting of an advisory committee unless a quorum is present.
(4) Each member
present at a meeting of an advisory committee is entitled to one vote on a
matter arising for decision at the meeting, but the person presiding at the
meeting has, in the event of an equality of votes, a casting vote as well as a
deliberative vote.
(5) A decision carried
by a majority of the votes cast by the members present and voting at a meeting
of an advisory committee is a decision of the committee.
(6) The procedure for
the calling of meetings of an advisory committee and for the conduct of
business at meetings will, subject to this Act, be determined by the advisory
committee.
