A reference in the Australian Road Rules to a road of a particular kind is a
reference to a road of that kind at any relevant place.
Example—
Rule 31 deals with a driver starting a right turn at an intersection from a
road (except a multi-lane road). The rule applies to a particular driver only
if the road from which the driver is turning is not a multi-lane road at the
intersection. In applying the rule to the driver, it is irrelevant that the
road is, or is not, a multi-lane road at another place away from the
intersection.
