5—Exemption from registration and insurance for certain vehicles used by
disabled persons
A motor vehicle (other than a motor car) is prescribed for the purposes of
section 12A(1) of the Act if—
(a) the
vehicle is specially designed and constructed (and not merely adapted) for the
transport of a person suffering from some physical defect or disability; and
(b) the
vehicle has seating for 1 person only; and
(c) the
unladen mass of the vehicle does not exceed 250 kilograms; and
(d) the
vehicle is capable only of short low speed journeys.
