457—Refurbishment of residential premises
A person conducting a business or undertaking who is to carry out
refurbishment of residential premises must ensure—
(a) that
all asbestos that is likely to be disturbed by the refurbishment is
identified; and
(b) so
far as is reasonably practicable, that the asbestos is removed before the
refurbishment is commenced.
Maximum penalty:
(a) In
the case of an individual—$6 000.
(b) In
the case of a body corporate—$30 000.

In this Part some duties are placed on licensed asbestos removalists and some
on asbestos removalists generally.
