South Australian Numbered Acts South Australian Numbered Acts32—Authorisation for disposal of human remains
(1) If a reportable
death occurs and the body of the dead person is within the State, the body is
under the exclusive control of the State Coroner until the State
Coroner—
(a)
considers that the body is not further required for the purposes of an inquest
into the death of the person; and
(b)
issues an authorisation for the disposal of human remains in respect of the
body.
(2) If the State
Coroner becomes aware of a dispute as to who may be entitled at law to
possession of the body of a dead person for the purposes of its disposal, the
State Coroner may refrain from issuing an authorisation for the disposal of
human remains in respect of the body until the dispute is resolved.
