20—Indemnity for authorised persons
Where the chief officer of a law enforcement agency grants an authority, the
law enforcement agency must indemnify the authorised person under the
authority for any liability incurred by the person (including reasonable
costs) because of something done by the person (whether in this State or
elsewhere) if—
(a) the
act is done in the course of acquiring or using an assumed identity in
accordance with the authority; and
(b) the
act is done—
(i)
in the case of an authorised officer—in the course
of his or her duty; or
(ii)
in the case of an authorised civilian—in accordance
with any direction by his or her supervisor under the authority; and
(c) the
requirements (if any) prescribed by the regulations have been met.
