(1) A member of an
emergency services organisation, a fire prevention officer, a
fire control officer, a police officer or an authorised officer may direct a
person who he or she reasonably suspects has committed, is committing or is
about to commit, an offence against this Act to state the person's full name
and usual place of residence and to produce evidence of the person's identity.
(2) A person to whom a
direction is given under subsection (1) must immediately comply with the
direction.
Maximum penalty: $5 000.
(3) In this
section—
"authorised officer" means a person authorised by the Commission (either
personally or by the designation of a class of persons) to exercise the powers
of an authorised officer under this section.
