47—Proceedings before Disciplinary Committee
(1) The Disciplinary
Committee will, on complaint made by the Chief Officer, investigate any
alleged misconduct on the part of an officer or firefighter of SAMFS or, if an
officer or firefighter has been convicted of an offence punishable by
imprisonment, determine what penalty (if any) should be imposed on the officer
or firefighter in relation to the conduct that comprised the offence.
(2) If the Committee
finds that an officer or firefighter has been guilty of misconduct or has been
convicted of an offence punishable by imprisonment, it may impose 1 or more of
the following penalties:
(a) it
may reprimand him or her;
(b) it
may reduce him or her in rank for a period determined by the Committee;
(c) it
may suspend him or her from office with, or without, pay;
(d) it
may dismiss him or her.
