(1) The Authority
consists of 7 members appointed by the Governor of whom at least 4 are to be
members of different outback communities.
(2) In selecting a
member of an outback community for appointment to the Authority, nominations
for appointment must be sought by notice in a newspaper circulating generally
throughout the outback and on the website of the Authority.
(3) At least 1 member
of the Authority must be a woman and 1 a man.
(4) The Governor will
appoint 1 of the members to be the presiding member of the Authority.
(5) The Governor may
appoint a person to be the deputy of a member of the Authority and the deputy
may act as a member of the Authority during any period of absence of the
member.
(6) An act or
proceeding of the Authority is not invalid by reason only of a vacancy in its
membership or a defect in the appointment of a member.
