National Parks and Wildlife (Great Australian Bight
Marine National Park) Variation Proclamation 2004
under section 43(4) of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972
1 By proclamation made under sections 28 and 43 of the National Parks
and Wildlife Act 1972 on 26 September 1996 (Gazette 26.9.1996 p 1209)
certain land was constituted as the Great Australian Bight Marine National
Park.
2 The proclamation provided that rights of entry, prospecting, exploration
or mining under the Mining Act 1971, the Petroleum Act 1940
or the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1982 could in certain
circumstances be acquired and exercised in relation to that land.
3 It is now intended that the proclamation be varied so that such rights
are no longer able to be acquired or exercised under those Acts (or their
successors) in relation to the land.
4 A resolution requesting the making of this proclamation has been passed
by both the House of Assembly and the Legislative Council.

This proclamation may be cited as the National Parks and Wildlife (Great
Australian Bight Marine National Park) Variation Proclamation
2004.
This proclamation comes into operation on the day on which it is
made.
In this proclamation, a provision under a heading referring to the
variation of a specified proclamation varies the proclamation so
specified.
