In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—
"area" means a municipality or a district council district;
"council" means a municipal council or a district council;
"director-general" means the Director-General of Medical Services appointed
pursuant to section 5A of this Act;
"domestic partner" means a person who is a domestic partner within the meaning
of the Family Relationships Act 1975 , whether declared as such under
that Act or not;
"insurance company" means any person or association of persons, whether
corporate or unincorporate, carrying on insurance business in the State;
"public hospital" means any place declared to be a public hospital pursuant to
section 5 or to The Hospitals Act 1867 ;
"spouse"—a person is the spouse of another if they are legally married;
"vehicle" includes motor vehicle, any vehicle run upon a railway or tramway,
and any other kind of vehicle.
