ABT RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT AMENDMENT BILL 2013
The Abt Railway Development Amendment Bill 2013 amends the Abt
Railway Development Act 1999 to provide for the Abt Railway Ministerial
Corporation (the Corporation) to operate the Abt railway as an alternative to
arranging a person to operate the railway.
The effect of the proposed amendment will be to allow the Corporation to
operate passenger and freight services on the Abt railway as an interim
measure while the Corporation continues its endeavours to arrange an
alternative person to operate the railway.
The underlying principle behind the legislative change is to ensure the Abt
railway continues to provide stimulus to the Tasmanian west coast economy.
