SENTENCING AMENDMENT BILL 2016 BILL 51 OF 2016

                            Sentencing Amendment Bill 2016

The Sentencing Amendment Bill 2016 (the Bill) will make a number of amendments to the
Sentencing Act 1997.
The amendments proposed in this Bill aim to amend the Sentencing Act 1997 by:

      allowing the Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal to make drug treatment
       orders under Part 3A;

      amending the powers of courts to deal with offenders on drug treatment orders; and

      allowing courts to defer sentencing.
