(1) The Director of Public Health may appoint a State Service officer or State Service employee to be an authorised officer for the purpose of this Act and that officer or employee may hold that office in conjunction with State Service employment.(2) A council may appoint a person to be an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act.(3) A person may not be appointed as an authorised officer under this section unless the person holds an approved qualification.(4) The Director of Public Health may approve the qualifications required for appointment as an authorised officer generally or for a particular appointment.
