(1) An issuing authority may serve a notice of demand on the registered operator of a vehicle if the issuing authority is satisfied that the driver of that vehicle committed a traffic offence.(2) A notice of demand is to (a) indicate the offence to which it relates; and(b) specify the registration number of the vehicle that was involved in the offence; and(c) specify that the registered operator is to provide to the issuing authority specified on the notice, within 14 days after the registered operator is served with the notice, a statutory declaration stating the name, address and, if known, the date of birth and driver licence number of the driver of the vehicle at the time the offence was committed.(3) A registered operator must comply with the notice of demand.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 40 penalty units.
