(1) If a plaintiff or applicant claims to be entitled to relief in respect of, or arising out of, a transaction, a set of circumstances or a series of transactions involving a question of law or fact common to 2 or more persons (a) those persons may be joined as defendants against whom relief is claimed jointly, severally or in the alternative; and(b) those persons may be so joined notwithstanding that the joinder involves the joinder of different causes of action.(2) The Court or a judge may in any case order the name of any person joined under subrule (1) to be struck out of the proceedings.
