DANGEROUS GOODS (GENERAL) REGULATIONS 1998 (S.R. 1998, NO. 163) - REG 26

Repair or alteration of packages or tanks
(1)  A person must not repair or alter, or attempt to repair or alter, a package, tank, hold or space that contains, or has contained, any dangerous goods, unless –
(a) the package, tank, hold or space has been cleared of dangerous goods; and
(b) a work permit in accordance with AS 1940 has been issued for the repair or alteration by a person who is a responsible officer within the meaning of AS 1940; and
(c) the repairs or alterations are made in accordance with the requirements of AS 1674.1 and AS 1940.
Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 5 penalty units.
(2)  A person must not require another person to enter or work in a confined space which contains or has contained dangerous goods in order to carry out repairs, alterations or maintenance work except in accordance with AS 2865.
Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 10 penalty units.
