(1) In this regulation survey means a periodic vessel inspection that is carried out for the purposes of Part 5 of the Marine and Safety (Vessel Safety Standards) By-Laws 2000 ;surveyor means a person who is authorised by MAST to carry out surveys of commercial vessels.(2) A surveyor who is carrying out a survey of a passenger vessel may direct the responsible person to produce the vessel's SMP so that the surveyor can check (a) its availability for use; and(b) that the SMP documentation is in order.(3) The responsible person must comply with a direction under subregulation (2) forthwith.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 20 penalty units.(4) If the surveyor considers that the SMP as checked contains any defects, he or she is to notify MAST accordingly.
