(1) If an inspector forms the opinion that a principal hazard may arise in relation to a mine, the inspector may direct the mine operator to prepare, within a period of time specified in the direction, a major hazard management plan in relation to the risks to health and safety that may be associated with the principal hazard.(2) A mine operator must comply with a direction under subregulation (1) within the period of time specified in the direction as the period in which a major hazard management plan is to be prepared in accordance with the direction.Penalty: In the case of (a) a body corporate, a fine not exceeding $13 000; and(b) an individual, a fine not exceeding $6 500.
