Rule 271 of the Principal Rules is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from subrule (1) "of a motor bike" twice occurring and substituting "of a motor bike, or quad bike," ;(b) by omitting from subrule (1) "motor" second occurring;(c) by omitting from subrule (1)(b) "motorbike" and substituting "bike" ;(d) by inserting the following note after the note in subrule (1) :Note 2 This rule has been amended to include quad bikes and is no longer uniform with the model road rules of Australia.(e) by omitting from subrule (1A) "motor bike" and substituting "motor bike, or quad bike," ;(f) by omitting from subrule (1A)(a) "motor" ;(g) by omitting from subrule (2) "motor bike" first occurring and substituting "motor bike, or quad bike," ;(h) by omitting from subrule (2)(b) "motor" ;(i) by omitting from subrule (3) "motor bike" and substituting "motor bike, or quad bike," ;(j) by omitting from subrule (4) "motor bike" and substituting "motor bike, or quad bike," ;(k) by omitting from subrule (5) "motor bike" and substituting "motor bike, or quad bike," ;(l) by inserting the following subrule after subrule (5C) :(5D) The rider of a quad bike must not ride with a passenger unless the passenger (a) is 6 years old or older; and(b) keeps both feet on the footrests designed for use by a pillion passenger on the quad bike; and(c) keeps at least one hand, while the passenger is seated, on the handrail of the bike, if any.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 20 penalty units.
