For the purposes of section 41(1)(b) of the Act, it is a prescribed requirement that a safety management system must (a) provide for all of those matters listed in Schedule 1 that are relevant to the railway operations for which the rail transport operator is accredited or seeks to be accredited; and(b) provide the level of detail in respect of each of those matters that is appropriate, having regard to (i) the scope, nature and risks to safety of the operations referred to in paragraph (a) ; and(ii) the operator's duties under section 11 of the Act.
