Rule 390 of the Principal Rules is rescinded and the following rule is substituted:

390.     Expiry of certain rules of Part 22

Rules 355 , 361 , 376 , 377 and 378 expire on 1 July 2001.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These regulations  amend the Road Rules by deferring the commencement of Division 2 of Part 14 from 1 December 2000 to 1 July 2001 and extending the life of certain provisions of Part 22 from 1 December 2000 to 1 July 2001. One effect of the amendments is that, for the time being, it will remain unlawful to ride a bicycle, animal or recreational device such as a skateboard on a footpath except in very limited cases.
