TRAFFIC (ROAD RULES) AMENDMENT (URBAN SPEED-LIMIT) REGULATIONS 2002 (S.R. 2002, NO. 30) - REG 5

Rule 371D amended (Wheeled recreational devices not to be used on roads with speed-limit over 50 km/h)
Rule 371D(1) of the Principal Rules is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "60" and substituting "50" ;
(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) "60" and substituting "50" .

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953 .

Notified in the Gazette on 1 May 2002

These regulations are administered in the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Road Rules by –
(a) lowering the default speed-limit in built-up areas from 60 to 50 kilometres per hour; and
(b) prohibiting the use of wheeled recreational devices on roads to which a speed-limit of over 50 kilometres per hour applies.
