Regulation 40A(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:

(a) by inserting "that is a small passenger vehicle" after "a public passenger vehicle" ;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) "1 January 2009" and substituting "1 January 2010" .

These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 by – 

(a) extending, until 1 January 2010, the period of the temporary exemption for certain driving instructors and drivers providing community transport services from the requirement to hold an ancillary certificate under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ; and

(b) revising the scope of that exemption for drivers providing community transport services.
