(1) Information recorded in a register is protected information if it is (a) personal information; or(b) commercially sensitive information.(2) The Registrar may divulge protected information only in the following circumstances:(a) if and as the Registrar considers appropriate in the public interest for the purposes of the administration of an Act of this State, another State or a Territory, or the Commonwealth;(b) if and as authorised by the person to whom the information relates;(c) if and as required by a court or other body or person authorised to take evidence;(d) if and as required for the purposes of NEVDIS;(e) if and as authorised by administrative guidelines issued by the Minister;(f) if and as otherwise authorised by the Minister.(3) In this regulation NEVDIS means the scheme established by New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania to provide a national exchange of vehicle and driver information and known as the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System.
