The exemption under clause 13 of a person using, or causing or permitting the use of, a combination carrying an overmass indivisible item is subject to the following conditions:

(a) the combination must have axle groups with at least 1.2 metre spacings between the centres of adjacent axles in each group;

(b) the axle loads of the combination must not exceed the following axle mass limits:

(i) tandem axle group – 18.5 tonnes;

(ii) tri-axle group – 25.0 tonnes;

(c) the aggregate axle load of the combination must not exceed the least of the following:

(i) the sum of the axle mass limits applicable to the combination;

(ii) if the distance between the centre of the rearmost drive axle and the centre of the first trailer axle is 6 metres or more, 49.50 tonnes;

(iii) if the distance between the centre of the rearmost drive axle and the centre of the first trailer axle is less than 6 metres, 49.50 tonnes decreased by 1 tonne for each 300 millimetres by which that distance is less than 6 metres.
