VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC (VEHICLE OPERATIONS) NOTICE 2003 (S.R. 2003, NO. 92) - REG 20

Conditions on exemption of vehicles carrying overseas export freight containers

The exemption under clause 19 of a person using, or causing or permitting the use of, a combination carrying an overseas export freight container is subject to the following conditions:
(a) the combination must be a tandem-drive prime mover with a single tri-axle trailer;
(b) all the axles of the combination except for the steer axle of the truck must be equipped with road-friendly suspension;
(c) all axle groups, other than the steer axle, must be fitted with dual tyres;
(d) the freight container must contain perishable commodities being transported for the purpose of export overseas;
(e) each freight container must be accompanied by documentation specifying –
(i) the origin and destination of the container; and
(ii) the nature of the commodity in the container; and
(iii) the container identification number;
(f) the combination must not exceed the mass limits set out in the following table:

(g) the person to whom the exemption applies must be a member of an approved mass-management scheme.
