VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC (VEHICLE OPERATIONS) REGULATIONS 2001 (S.R. 2001, NO. 168) - REG 31

Warning requirements on projections
(1)  During daylight, a person must not use, or cause or permit the use of, a vehicle carrying a load if the load projects more than –
(a) 1.2 metres in front of the vehicle; or
(b) 1.2 metres behind the vehicle, unless a red flag is affixed to the rear extremity of the load.
Penalty:  In the case of –
(a) a first offence – 20 penalty units; and
(b) a second or subsequent offence – 40 penalty units.
(2)  At night, a person must not use, or cause or permit the use of, a vehicle carrying a load if the load projects more than –
(a) 1.2 metres in front of the vehicle; or
(b) 1.2 metres behind the vehicle, unless a red light is affixed to, and clearly displayed at, the rear extremity of the load.
Penalty:  In the case of –
(a) a first offence – 20 penalty units; and
(b) a second or subsequent offence – 40 penalty units.
