1. Vertical pinsThe vertical pins referred to in regulation 29(2)(a) and (b) are to (a) be made of steel material; and(b) have a minimum diameter of (i) 50 millimetres above the tray surface of the vehicle; and(ii) 35 millimetres below the tray surface of the vehicle; and(c) have a minimum length of (i) 100 millimetres above the tray surface of the vehicle; and(ii) 120 millimetres below the tray surface of the vehicle; and(d) in the case of a pin which has its upper portion offset in relation to its lower portion, be constructed from steel not less than 6 millimetres in thickness; and(e) be fitted into cylindrical sleeves in the tray of the vehicle which is to (i) be made of steel material; and(ii) have a minimum thickness of 5 millimetres; and(iii) have a minimum length of 120 millimetres; and(iv) be welded to, or form part of, the structure of the vehicle.
2. ChainThe chain referred to in regulation 29(2)(b) and (c) is to (a) be constructed from steel alloy or high tensile steel; and(b) have a link diameter of not less than 7 millimetres; and(c) be secured at each end to a substantial portion of the tray of the vehicle; and(d) be tensioned by means of a device known as a load binder or a turn buckle.
