A Bill for an Act to amend the Parochial Government Act 1991
THE PAROCHIAL GOVERNMENT AMENDMENT ACT 2006
Be it enacted by the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of the Anglican Church of Australia in the Diocese of Ballarat duly met in Synod according to law as follows.
Short Title
Commencement
“17 (1) There shall be a Diocesan Pastoral Committee (“the Committee).
(2) The members of the Committee shall be:
(i) the Bishop;
(ii) the Archdeacon;
(iii) the Vicar General;
(iv) the Rural Deans;
and for the life of each synod –
(v) one lay person from each Deanery pastoral team appointed by the Bishop after consultation with that Deanery pastoral tea;
and
(vi) up to three extra lay people appointed by the Bishop
(3) The Registrar shall be Secretary of the Committee and at its meetings may speak but not vote.
(4) The function of the committee shall be to advise the Bishop on matters relating to pastoral ministry and mission within the Diocese including, but not limited to-
(a) parish boundaries, mission districts and parochial structures;
(b) renewal programs; and
(c) any other matters relating to the mission and ministry of the diocese on which the Bishop may seek advice.
(5) The committee shall keep minutes of its meetings and shall make written reports to Bishop in Council at least twice yearly.
(6) The Committee shall be convened by the Bishop and shall meet at least twice annually.”
