Legislation of the Anglican Church in Victoria |
No. 2, 1905
AN ACT
TO SUBSTITUTE THE NAME SYNOD FOR
CHURCH ASSEMBLY
BE it enacted by the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of
the Church of England within the Diocese of Wangaratta in Victoria duly met
in
Synod according to law as follows:-
Melbourne Assembly Acts
1. All Acts of the Church Assembly of the Diocese of Melbourne and of the Church Assembly of the Diocese of Wangaratta which were binding upon the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of the said Diocese of Wangaratta at the time of the passing of the Act of the Parliament of Victoria known as "The Church of England Act 1904" number 1947 shall notwithstanding the change of name made by such Act of Parliament continue to be so binding and of full force and effect until the same shall be revoked or altered by a Synod of the Church of England within the said Diocese of Wangaratta.
Word “Assembly”
etc. to be read as “Synod” etc.
2. Wherever prior to the passing of this Act the words "an Assembly" "Church Assembly" "Assembly" or "Assemblies" occur in any Act Resolution or regulation of the Synod (heretofore called Assembly) of the Church Assembly within the Diocese of Wangaratta in Victoria or in any Act of the Synod (or Assembly) of the Diocese of Melbourne binding upon the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of the Church of England within the said Diocese of Wangaratta or in any deed document instrument or writing made or entered into by or in connection with the said Church within the said Diocese of Wangaratta the same shall be read as if they were respectively "a Synod" "Synod" or "Synods" as the case may be.
