Parliamentary Committees Amendment Act 2019 No. of 2019 [Assented to ] The Parliament of Victoria enacts: 1 Purposes The purposes of this Act are-- (a) to amend the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 to abolish certain Joint House Committees; and (b) to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 to make further provision in relation to the additional salary to be paid to the chairpersons of certain parliamentary committees; and 1

 


 

Parliamentary Committees Amendment Act 2019 No. of 2019 (c) to make a statute law revision to a provision of the Integrity and Accountability Legislation Amendment (Public Interest Disclosures, Oversight and Independence) Act 2019 that consequentially amends the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003. 2 Commencement (1) This Act (other than section 7) comes into operation on the day after the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. (2) Subject to subsection (3), section 7 comes into operation on a day to be proclaimed. (3) If section 7 does not come into operation before 1 January 2020, it comes into operation on that day. 3 Establishment of Joint House Committees Section 5(b), (d), (e) and (g) of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 is repealed. 4 Sections 8, 10, 11 and 13 repealed Sections 8, 10, 11 and 13 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 are repealed. 5 Parts 8 and 9 repealed Parts 8 and 9 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 are repealed. 6 Salaries and allowances In section 6 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968, in the Table at the foot of the section, before the item in relation to the "Chairperson of a Joint Investigatory Committee within the meaning of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 2

 


 

Parliamentary Committees Amendment Act 2019 No. of 2019 which is not otherwise provided for in this Table" insert-- "Chairperson of a standing 10 committee appointed under standing orders of the Assembly or the Council ". 7 Statute law revision--Integrity and Accountability Legislation Amendment (Public Interest Disclosures, Oversight and Independence) Act 2019 In section 91(1)(b) of the Integrity and Accountability Legislation Amendment (Public Interest Disclosures, Oversight and Independence) Act 2019, for "paragraph (o)" substitute "paragraph (n)". 8 Repeal of amending Act This Act is repealed on 1 July 2021. Note The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984). ═════════════ 3
