LAND (FURTHER REVOCATION OF RESERVATIONS) BILL 2001

 Land (Further Revocation of Reservations) Bill

              EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM


Clause 1   sets out the main purpose of the Bill.

Clause 2   sets out the commencement dates of the various provisions of the
           Act.

Clause 3   provides for the revocation of the reservation of a portion of land
           at Barwon Heads, set aside for public purposes, in order to
           facilitate disposal of the land.

Clause 4   provides for the revocation of the reservation and Crown Grant
           over land at Ballarat, set aside for an Asylum for Indigent
           Members of the Old Colonists Association of Ballaarat, in order
           to facilitate disposal of the land.

Clause 5   provides for the revocation of the reservation of a portion of land
           at South Melbourne, set aside for Public Purposes (Wharf and
           Associated Tourist Facilities), as the reservation is no longer
           required for the purpose for which the land is used.

Clause 6   provides that on revocation of a reservation the land is deemed to
           be unalienated land of the Crown, freed from any encumbrances
           and the appointment of any committee of management and any
           regulations are revoked to the extent that they apply to the land.

Clause 7   requires the Registrar of Titles to make any amendments to
           records that are necessary because of the operation of this Act.
