COUNTRY FIRE AUTHORITY ACT 1958 - SECT 9A

Rights of Chairperson in relation to the public service and superannuation

    (1)     The Public Administration Act 2004 (other than Part 3 of that Act) applies to a person appointed as chairperson of the Authority in respect of the office of chairperson.

    (2)     If any person appointed as chairperson of the Authority was immediately before his or her appointment an employee in the public service, such person is eligible at the termination of his or her term of office under this Act to be employed in the public service with a classification and emolument corresponding with or higher than that which he or she held or received immediately before his or her appointment as the chairperson of the Authority as if the whole period of his or her service under this Act had been a period of service in the public service.

    (3)     If any person appointed chairperson of the Authority was immediately prior to that appointment an officer within the meaning of the State Superannuation Act 1988 or any corresponding previous enactment he shall notwithstanding that appointment be deemed to continue subject to that Act to be an officer within the meaning of that Act.
