(1) Subject to subsection (2), an assessment patient must not be given treatment while the assessment order is in force.
(2) An assessment patient may be given treatment while the assessment order is in force if—
(a) the patient gives informed consent to the treatment; or
(b) a registered medical practitioner employed or engaged by the responsible designated mental health service is satisfied that urgent treatment must be given to the patient to prevent—
(i) serious deterioration in the patient's mental or physical health; or
(ii) serious harm to the patient or to another person.
