OFFSHORE PETROLEUM AND GREENHOUSE GAS STORAGE ACT 2010 - SECT 84

Duration of petroleum exploration permit

    (1)     The duration of a petroleum exploration permit is worked out using the table—

an original petroleum exploration permit (other than a boundary-change petroleum exploration permit)

for the period of 6 years beginning on—

(a)     the day on which the permit is granted; or

(b)     if a later day is specified in the permit as the day on which the permit is to come into force—that later day.

a petroleum exploration permit granted by way of renewal

for the period of 5 years beginning on—

(a)     the day on which the permit is granted; or

(b)     if a later day is specified in the permit as the day on which the permit is to come into force—that later day.

a boundary-change petroleum exploration permit granted under section 101A(4)

for the period of 5 years beginning on the day on which the permit is granted.

a boundary-change petroleum exploration permit granted under section 101A(5)

for the period of 12 months beginning on the day on which the permit is granted.

    (2)     Subsection (1) has effect subject to this Chapter.
