PARLIAMENTARY PRECINCTS ACT 2001 - SECT 27

Certificates are evidence

    (1)     In a prosecution for an offence under this Act or any other Act or law, a certificate which purports to be signed by a presiding officer stating that—

        (a)     a person is an authorised officer; or

        (b)     a direction under section 15 had or had not been given in respect of the exercise of a power or function which may be the subject of those proceedings—

is evidence, and, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, is proof, of the matters stated in the certificate.

    (2)     All courts must take judicial notice of the signature of a presiding officer on a certificate referred to in subsection (1).
