    The long title for the Bill for this Act was "A Bill for an Act to     refer certain matters relating to security interests in personal property to the Parliament of the Commonwealth for the purposes of section 51(xxxvii) of the Constitution of the Commonwealth."

The Personal Property Securities (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009 was assented to on 21 October 2009 and came into operation as follows:

Sections 1–5, 6(1)(5)–(8), 7–9 on 21 October 2009: section 2(1); section 6(2) on 26 November 2009: Government Gazette 26 November 2009 page 3011; section 6(3)(4) not yet proclaimed.
