ROMSEY PARK ACT 1899 - PREAMBLE

Preamble

WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of October in the year One thousand eight hundred and eighty-three [1] the land described in the First Schedule to this Act was permanently reserved from sale under the provisions of The Land Act 1869 as a site or place for a Public Park:

AND WHEREAS a portion of the land so reserved is not now required for the purpose of a Public Park, and it is expedient that Her Majesty should resume possession of such portion in order that the same may if the Governor in Council thinks fit be reserved as a site for Agricultural Show Grounds:

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Victoria in this present Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows (that is to say):
