Victorian Current Acts Victorian Current Acts(1) The Chief Commissioner, a Deputy Commissioner or an Assistant Commissioner may extend the period of authorisation beyond the 8 hour period referred to in section 19(1)(c) if he or she decides that extended authorisation is necessary for the purpose of protecting public health.
(2) The extended period of authorisation must not be for more than 16 hours duration in total (whether that total is a continuous period or a cumulative total of separate periods).
(3) An extension may only be granted under subsection (1) with the agreement of the agency referred to in section 19(1)(b).
