For section 15 of the Building Act 1993 substitute —
" 14A Certificates of accreditation
(1) A person may apply in accordance with the regulations to the Building Regulations Advisory Committee or a person or body referred to in section 14(1) for the issue of a certificate of accreditation for a building product, construction method, design, component or system accredited by the Building Regulations Advisory Committee or the person or body (as the case requires).
(2) A certificate of accreditation issued by the Building Regulations Advisory Committee or a person or body referred to in section 14(1) for a building product, construction method, design, component or system must be in accordance with the regulations.
The Authority must, in accordance with the regulations, keep a register of all building products, construction methods, designs, components and systems accredited by the Building Regulations Advisory Committee or a person or body referred to in section 14(1).
The relevant building surveyor must not refuse to approve building work on the ground that any building product, construction method, design, component or system connected with the building work is unsatisfactory if the building product, construction method, design, component or system complies with an accreditation given by the Building Regulations Advisory Committee or a person or body referred to in section 14(1) which is in force.".
