MAJOR CRIME (INVESTIGATIVE POWERS) ACT 2004 (NO 79 OF 2004) - SECT 64

Obstruction

    (1)     A person must not, without reasonable excuse, obstruct, hinder, threaten or abuse the Special Investigations Monitor in the performance of the Special Investigations Monitor's functions under this Act.

Penalty:     10 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months or both.

    (2)     Proceedings may only be instituted for an offence under sub-section (1)—

        (a)     by the Special Investigations Monitor; or

        (b)     by or with the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
