SERIOUS OFFENDERS ACT 2018 (NO. 27 OF 2018) - SECT 137

Execution of warrant to arrest

    (1)     A warrant to arrest issued under section 136 may be executed by any police officer.

    (2)     A person executing a warrant to arrest issued under section 136 may use any reasonable force that is necessary to enter any premises, vessel, aircraft or vehicle for the purpose of executing the warrant.

    (3)     A person executing a warrant to arrest issued under section 136 may use only the reasonable force that is necessary for the execution of the warrant.

    (4)     A person executing a warrant is not liable for injury or damage caused by the use of force in accordance with this section.

    (5)     A person who uses force to execute a warrant to arrest issued under section 136 must report the fact as soon as possible to the Chief Commissioner of Police.

    (6)     The Chief Commissioner of Police must report to the Secretary as soon as possible any use of force by a person that has been reported to the Chief Commissioner of Police under this section.
