Victorian Numbered Acts Victorian Numbered Acts(1) If a police officer suspects on reasonable grounds that an offender who is detained under section 155 is in possession of an object that may cause injury or damage or may be used to escape from detention, the police officer may search—
(a) the offender; and
(b) any vehicle, package or thing in the possession of the offender.
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), a suspicion that conducting a search under subsection (1) would provide evidence that an offence has been or is being committed is not sufficient grounds for conducting a search.
