(1) An officer who is ordered, directed or otherwise authorised under this Part to conduct a search may search and examine an offender and any thing belonging to, found in the possession of, or under the control of, the offender.
(2) To the extent practicable, a pat-down search must be conducted by a person of the same sex as the offender being searched.
(3) A search may continue only for as long as required to achieve the purpose of the search.
(4) An officer may, if necessary, use reasonable force to carry out a search under this Part.
