ROAD SAFETY (DRIVERS) AND (GENERAL) AMENDMENT (MOBILE PHONES AND OTHER DEVICES) REGULATIONS 2013 (SR NO 135 OF 2013) - REG 1

Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are—

        (a)     to amend the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009—

              (i)     to increase the demerit points that can be recorded against a person for an offence relating to the use of a mobile phone; and

              (ii)     to prescribe the demerit points that can be recorded against a person for an offence relating to the use of     a television receiver or a visual display unit; and

        (b)     to amend the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2009 to increase the infringement penalty relating to the use of a mobile phone, television receiver or visual display unit.
