Sch. 16
Prescribed activity under regulation 6(p): Installing lamps that comply with the criteria specified in Part A of Schedule 16 and, where installed in place of lamps that do not comply with those criteria, decommissioning those lamps.
Item
16A Installation of low energy GLS (general lighting service) lamp, whether or not in place of an existing lamp or lamps, being a product that—
(a) achieves minimum lighting source efficacy levels of—
(i) 52 lumens/watt where light output is not less than 650, and not more than, 850 lumens; or
(ii) 55 lumens/watt where light output is more than 850 lumens; and
(b) has a minimum manufacturer's rated lifetime of 6000 hours; and
(c) if the lamp is to be installed in a dimmable circuit, is approved by the manufacturer as suitable for such a circuit.
16B Installation of low energy small lamp, whether or not in place of an existing lamp or lamps, being a product that—
(a) achieves minimum lighting source efficacy levels of—
(i) 40 lumens/watt where light output is not less than 200 and not more than 350 lumens; or
(ii) 45 lumens/watt where light output is more than 350, and not more than 550, lumens.
(b) has a minimum manufacturer's rated lifetime of 6000 hours; and
(c) if the lamp is to be installed in a dimmable circuit, is approved by the manufacturer as suitable for such a circuit.
16C Installation of low energy reflector lamp,
whether or not in place of an existing lamp or lamps, being a product
that—
Sch. 16
(a) achieves minimum lighting source efficacy levels of 25 lumens/watt; and
(b) has a minimum manufacturer's rated lifetime of 6000 hours; and
(c) if the lamp is to be installed in a dimmable circuit, is approved by the manufacturer as suitable for such a circuit.
16D Installation of low energy downlight, whether or not in place of an existing lamp or lamps, being a product that—
(a) achieves minimum lighting source efficacy levels of 40 lumens/watt; and
(b) has a minimum manufacturer's rated lifetime of 6000 hours; and
(c) if the lamp is to be installed
in a dimmable circuit, is approved by the manufacturer as suitable for such a
circuit.
PART B—CALCULATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE EQUIVALENTS OF GREENHOUSE GASES
The method and variables to be used to calculate in tonnes the carbon dioxide equivalent of greenhouse gases to be reduced by the installation of a product or products referred to in an item in Part A is determined by the sum of the figures obtained by multiplying the number of lamps installed in the premises under each item in Part A by the abatement factor for that item and by the regional factor applying to the place where the premises are situated.
The following are the abatement factors and regional factors for each item in Part A:
Item
16A Abatement factor
(a) The abatement factor for a product that achieves a minimum lighting source efficacy of—
(i) 52
lumens/watt where the light output is not less than 650 lumens and not more
than 850 lumens; or
Sch. 16
(ii) 55 lumens/watt where the light output is more than 850 lumens—
and has a manufacturer's rated lifetime of a number of hours in the range specified in an item in column 1 of the Table below is the factor shown in column 2 of that Table.
