(1) Jurisdiction to
dispense with the requirement for bail under section 7A for any appearance
described in the first column of Schedule 1 Part A clause 2 or 3 is vested,
subject to Schedule 1 Part B, in the judicial officer specified in the second
column of that clause opposite that description, but Schedule 1 Part A clause
7 does not apply for the purposes of this subsection.
(2) The jurisdiction
referred to in subsection (1) is exercisable only —
(a) in
respect of an appearance in court before conviction for an offence; and
(b) if
it appears to the judicial officer that bail would be granted in accordance
with Schedule 1 Part C clause 1 or 2 but that in the circumstances the
completion of bail papers is an unnecessary imposition.
(3) Where a judicial
officer dispenses with the requirement for bail for an appearance by an
accused the registrar of the court shall, in accordance with section 13B, give
written notice to the accused of the time and place for the appearance.
